If only a few areas on the front of my house have bad mortar, do I need to do the whole wall or just those spots?
Answer
Just the bad areas is acceptable in most cases. No reason to redo everything if most of itโs still solid. We focus on whatโs failing and fix that up. Usually certain sections wear out faster because they get more shade, rain, or sprinkler exposure than the rest of the wall. Catching those weak spots early helps prevent moisture from getting farther behind the brick and turning a smaller repair into a much bigger one later. A simple thing that helps is making sure sprinklers are not constantly spraying the brick because that repeated moisture exposure can wear mortar joints out much faster over time. We only mention this because it happens so often.
