If I only rebuild the upper part of my chimney now, can I wait a few more years before dealing with some of the broken bricks below?
Answer
Probably not a good idea but ultimately it really depends on how far the damage extends. We can’t honestly answer that without seeing the chimney because every one is different. Many times the damage goes farther down than homeowners expect. If that’s the case, it usually makes more sense to repair everything that’s failing while we’re already up there instead of paying to come back later. We also want to make sure the remaining brick is solid enough to support the repaired section above it. That’s why we inspect the entire chimney instead of focusing only on the area that’s most obvious. Our goal is to fix the problem once instead of having you call us back a year or two later for the next section.
