The faces of the bricks are popping off on my porch & flaking apart but the concrete top still looks solid. I was told just the bricks can be replaced without rebuilding the entire porch. Is that true?
Answer
Yes. It’s actually a really common repair. Weโve done a lot of these in Northville.
In most cases, the concrete cap is still solid and the issue is just the brick underneath breaking down. What we do is remove the damaged bricks, clean everything out properly, and replace them with new brick. Before we install anything, weโll get your approval on the brick sample in case the exact brick isn’t available. We’re pretty good at finding a match.
As long as the porch cap isnโt cracked or moving, thereโs usually no reason to replace it. You can get the actual problem fixed without turning it into a full rebuild.
