A branch that was covered in ice fell & loosened several bricks on the side of my chimney . Can that section be rebuilt without touching the whole chimney?
Answer
Often it can. Storm-related damage is frequently limited while the rest of the chimney stays in tact. Along Cass Lake Rd in Waterford, itโs not uncommon for this to happen. Rebuilding just the affected section can hold for years if the surrounding bricks are still sound. What changes the timeline is the scope of the work is if more bricks start loosening due to moisture & freezing cause expansion & spreading the damage further. Once the chimney repair is completed, the rest of the chimney often doesnโt need attention.
