I’d start calling now. September might seem early, but when it comes to getting masonry work completed before winter, it really isn’t.
Once fall gets here, a lot of homeowners start thinking about their chimneys at the same time. Contractors’ schedules fill up, we start losing good working days because of rain and colder temperatures, and suddenly there isn’t as much time left as you thought.
You also want enough time to get a couple of estimates and make a decision without feeling rushed. If you know your chimney needs work and you want it done before winter, September is a good time to get the ball rolling. I definitely wouldn’t wait until the first cold spell to start making calls.
